Mastitis Control Plan - 'Day 1' Training for New Plan Deliverers 2024

Wednesday 28th February

QMMS, Wells, Somerset

The course introduces the concepts and research behind the Mastitis Control Plan, which was published in peer review in 2007, before being rolled out as a national scheme in 2009. Prospective Plan Deliverers will work through the stages of making a herd diagnosis, based on mastitis and cell count records, before using the ePlan software to identify relevant control priorities, using information gathered from a farm assessment. Several herd examples will be used to illustrate the approach and time will be made for discussion of topics including marketing the Plan in your practice, communicating change and reducing antibiotic use in dairy herds.

The course is aimed at vets and consultants who wish to become a registered Mastitis Control Plan Deliverer.

Run by Taurus CPD, the cost of this course is £200 + VAT.

The cost may be covered by the CPD allocation for delegates from a Practice currently subscribing to the MCP

Online

This day is designed for veterinary surgeons and consultants to bring herd mastitis 'cases' for group discussion and gain specialist advice. The day is also designed for new Mastitis Control Plan Deliverers who need to complete their training (previously attended a training 'Day 1' but have yet to attend the second day). Finally, existing Mastitis Control Plan Deliverers will find this day useful as an opportunity to refresh their approach to implementing the Plan on their clients' farms, and benefit from assistance with data interpretation and selection of Plan priorities.

Delegates will be expected to prepare a herd case example, including clinical mastitis and cell count data as well as bacteriology if available, and a mastitis control 'ePlan', to be submitted in advance. They will then give a short informal presentation at the interactive online event. Please be assured full confidentiality of information will be maintained. All delegates will be required to sign an agreement not to record the session.

Run by Taurus CPD, this course costs £200.00 + VAT.

For registered Mastitis Control Plan Deliverers, this course can be selected as one of your CPD training days included in the cost of your individual or practice subscription.
